Southern California's Home Depot Center and Citizens Business Bank Arena Roll Out Wireless Internet Access to Enhance Guest Experience During Events
LOS ANGELES, CA - June 2, 2010 - Boingo Wireless, the world's leading WiFi provider, announced that they have entered into an agreement to install and operate their state-of-the-art enterprise-class WiFi networks at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., and the Citizen's Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
Boingo will provide venue guests with retail WiFi services based on the company's industry-leading neutral host roaming platform throughout both facilities, including the seating areas, concessions, restaurant and hospitality areas. Guests can access the Internet on their laptops, netbooks, tablets and smartphones.
Both venues were developed and are managed by AEG Facilities, a stand-alone affiliate of AEG that owns, operates or consults with more than 100 of the industry's preeminent venues worldwide.
\"Our partnership with these world-class venues is a significant coup for Boingo as we continue to expand our owned and operated network beyond airports,\" said Jim Janowiak, vice president of business development at Boingo. \"The Home Depot Center and Citizens Business Bank Arena mark the first venue-wide major spectator facilities within our managed network and we're aiming to add more locations like these to the lineup.\"
The Home Depot Center hosts a variety of national and international competitions, including boxing, tennis, basketball and soccer matches. The 125-acre development is home to the Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA of Major League Soccer (MLS) and is the training headquarters for the United States Soccer Federation, the home of the USTA's Player Development Training Center-West and an official USA Cycling training site. The Citizens Bank Business Arena -located approximately fifty miles from The Home Depot Center - also hosts sporting events in addition to concerts, family shows, and conventions.
\"Internet access has been a popular request among The Home Depot Center patrons -- especially those with smartphones -- and we are pleased to be able to offer WiFi access through our partnership with Boingo, who is a leader in providing internet services in large venues\" said Katie Pandolfo, General Manager, The Home Depot Center.
\"We are pleased that the Boingo partnership will provide the latest technology to assist our guests in staying connected\" Steve Eckerson, General Manager, Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Boingo WiFi will enable guests at both venues to enjoy an intuitive, reliable, and fast online experience. After connecting to the \"Boingo Hotspot\" SSID, users will be redirected to a Boingo landing page -- accessible on both laptop and mobile devices -- with several WiFi access offerings including day passes and subscriptions.
