LA Galaxy and StubHub Center announce partnership with Long Beach Transit to offer free shuttles for Galaxy games
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017) – The LA Galaxy and StubHub Center announced today a partnership with Long Beach Transit that will improve transportation to the stadium by offering free Galaxy Express shuttles to and from StubHub Center from two local transit centers on LA Galaxy game days.
“We are excited to partner with Long Beach Transit to provide our fans with more transportation options and access to LA Galaxy games,” said StubHub Center General Manager Katie Pandalfo. “We have worked to continue to improve access to and from StubHub Center for our games and look forward to making free shuttles available on game days.”
The shuttles will begin operating on Saturday, February 25 during the Galaxy’s preseason exhibition match against the Portland Timbers (8 p.m. PT, Spectrum SportsNet). The Galaxy will then kick off the 2017 MLS Season on Saturday, March 4 at StubHub Center when they host FC Dallas at 1 p.m. PT live on Univision.
“The Galaxy Express powered by Long Beach Transit allows Southern California sports fans a quick and simple route directly to LA Galaxy matches at StubHub Center,” said Long Beach Transit CEO Kenneth McDonald. “This shuttle expands on Long Beach Transit’s commitment to provide transportation options that are safe, convenient and economical.”
The Galaxy Express operates every 10 minutes beginning 90 minutes before kick off and running through the game’s 15th minute. The shuttle will operate for 45 minutes after the game ends. The shuttle will pick-up soccer fans from the Harbor Gateway Transit Center, 731 W. 182nd St., Gardena, where there are 980 parking spaces, and the Del Amo Station of the Metro Blue Line, 20220 Santa Fe Ave., Los Angeles, where there are 332 spaces. Parking at the stations is free.
Galaxy fans are encouraged to take the Metro Silver Line to the Harbor Gateway Transit Center or take the Metro Blue Line to the Del Amo Station. Fares are $2.50 per boarding for the Silver Line and $1.75 to board the Blue Line. Transit customers should buy round-trip fares to avoid waiting in lines for the return trip.
