LA Galaxy set to open 2016 MLS season on March 6 at StubHub Center
The LA Galaxy open the 2016 MLS campaign at StubHub Center Sunday, March 6
The LA Galaxy will continue play in the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) quarterfinals this week when they face Santos Laguna on Tuesday, March 1, at Estadio Corona in Torreon, Mexico, in the second leg of the series (7 p.m. PT, Fox Sports 2). The Galaxy will then return to StubHub Center for their 2016 Major League Soccer opening match, set for Sunday, March 6, against Eastern Conference foe D.C. United (7 p.m. PT, UniMás).
The Galaxy’s 2016 MLS Regular Season opening match will mark the 42nd time that the Galaxy have faced D.C. United in the MLS Regular Season and the third time that the clubs will face each other in the opening game of the season. In 20 matches against D.C. United at home all time, the Galaxy have gone 10-5-5, scoring 31 goals while allowing 19. The Galaxy are 2-1-2 in their previous five meetings against United and are 13-6-1 in their 20 previous home openers. In the previous two seasons, the Galaxy have only lost three MLS games at StubHub Center.
