CARSON - The match ups for the 2010 CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games Presented by Farmers, are now set, CIF Executive Director Marie M. Ishida announced Sunday.

The Selection Committee, comprised of the 10 CIF Section Commissioners, has selected the following teams to participate in games Friday-Saturday, Dec. 17-18, at the Home Depot Center. \"I was impressed with the Selection Committee, added Event Director Ken Gunn. \"They showed depth of knowledge, thorough evaluation of all potential entrants and worked exceptionally well together.\"

Open Division: De La Salle (Concord) vs. Servite (Anaheim)

De La Salle (13-0, 7-0) won its 19th straight North Coast Section title with a 49-21 win over California of San Ramon last Saturday. The Spartans, who play in the East Bay League, are coached by Bob Ladouceur. They will face Servite (14-0, 5-0) , the Pac-5 Division Champion from the Southern Section. The Friars, who play in the Trinity League, are coached by Troy Thomas.

De La Salle continues to be a fixture in the State Championship Bowl Games. The Spartans are making a Bowl- Games record fifth appearance since the inception of the event in 2006. They are 2-2 overall, winning the Open Division title in 2009 and the Division I crown in 2007.

Servite, which won the D-II state title last season, returns with a perfect record and a 25-game winning streak. Before downing highly-touted Mission Viejo 41-27 last Saturday in the Southern Section Pac-5 title game, the Friars defeated 12-0 Alemany in the semifinals and proved strong, winning the perennial competitive Trinity League.

Division I: Palo Alto vs. Centennial (Corona)

Palo Alto (14-0, 6-0) is the Central Coast Section Open Division Champion. The Vikings, who won the De Anza League, is coached by Earl Hansen. Centennial (15-0, 7-0) won the Southern Section Inland Division championship. The Big VIII League winners are coached by Matt Logan.

Palo Alto seeks to make up for a 42-28 loss to Orange Lutheran in the 2006 D-II state title game. This season, the Vikings ended a perfect season with a 21-14 win over Valley Christian of San Jose in the CCS Open Division final. The Vikings, moreover, collected 11 of their 13 wins over CCS playoff teams.

Centennial will make its third appearance in the State Bowl Games, winning the D-I state title in 2008. The Huskies, another undefeated team entering the tournament, feature one of the state's best offenses that scored as many as 82 points this season.

Division II: Folsom vs. Serra (Gardena)

Folsom (13-1, 5-0) qualified as the Sac-Joaquin Section D-I champion. The Bulldogs, who won the Delta River League, are coached by Kris Richardson. Serra (14-0, 5-0) earned a bid after winning the Southern Section Western Division title. The champions of the Mission League are coach by Scott Altenberg.

Folsom is a first timer in the State Bowl Games. Still, the Bulldogs are far from lacking notoriety. After falling to perennial power Grant of Sacramento 49-14 in their season opener, the Bulldogs earned revenge with 41-20 win over the Pacers in the SJS D-II title game. The Bulldogs also have a 13-game winning streak, including a triumph over SJS D-I champion Pleasant Grove of Elk Grove.

Serra seeks a second straight state football title after winning the D-III game last season. The Cavaliers also have the longest current winning streak in the state at 29 games and probably has more Division I college prospects than any other team in Southern California, including Servite.

Division III: Escalon vs. Madison (San Diego)

Escalon (13-1, 6-0) represents the Sac-Joaquin Section as its D-IV champion. The Trans Valley League champion Cougars are coached by Mark Loureiro. They face Madison (12-1, 5-0, which won the San Diego Section D-IV title. The representatives of the Western League, the Warhawks are guided by coach Rick Jackson.

Escalon magical season thus far was highlighted with a 22-20 victory over Calaveras in the SJS-D-IV final. The Cougars have won 11 straight, including a victory over Central Catholic of Modesto, which was ranked No. 1 in some Division IV media polls.

Madison's hallmark is defense. The Warhawks allowed only 47 points in league play and 35 in the playoffs. They fell to Olympian of Chula Vista 28-17 on Oct. 15. But bounced back and avenged the loss with a 48-7 win over Eagles in the San Diego Section semifinals.

Division IV: Brookside Christian (Stockton) vs. The Bishop's School (La Jolla)

Brookside Christian (12-0, 5-0) came out of the Sac-Joaquin Section, winning the D-VI title. The winners of the Central California AA League, the Knights are coached by LaTe'f Grim. The Knights' opponents will be the Knights of The Bishop's School (13-0, 4-0), the winner of the San Diego Section Division V championship. The Southern California Knights won the Coastal League and are coached by Joel Allen.

Brookside Christian (12-0, 5-0) knows how to score points. The Knights have won 12 games scoring at least 28 points or more. One of their wins was over Bradshaw Christian of Elk Grove, which was the two-time defending section champion.

The Bishop's School enters the game with a perfect record thanks to a prolific offense, too. Three times the Knights earned wins with 50 points or more and four times their defense limited their opponents to 10 points or less.

\"The Selection Committee made a commitment to a complete process during which all 49 schools were presented by their respective commissioner and discussed thoroughly, said Ishida.\" I applaud the other 39 Section champions for their performances this season.\"

To be eligible for the state championship bowl games, teams must have been their respective CIF Section Champion. Teams were also selected based on won-loss record, strength of schedule, head-to-head competition and common opponents. There were a total of 49 Section Champions - 22 from Northern California and 27 from Southern California. Open Division: The top team in the north will play the top team in the south regardless of enrollment.

Division IV: Note: If a DIII Section Champion is within the D-IV enrollment parameters of 1-500, they willmove to that Division for Bowl Game consideration. If less than three schools are available for selection in D-IV the smallest remaining D-III school will move into the D-IV selection pool.

Note: 2009- 2010 CBEDS figures (grades 9 through 12) will be used to determine divisional placement for only the D-IV 2010 championships. The CBEDS enrollment figures to be used for both public and private schools are those certified by the school Principal in October of the prior school year. The enrollment for single gender schools shall be doubled in grades 9 - 12 to gain a total figure for the single gender school. Schools will be required to participate in the divisions that have been established.

Tickets for the 2010 CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games Presented by Farmers are available at The Home Depot Center Box Office, local Ticket Master outlets or ticketmaster.com. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for high school students (with a valid ASB card), seniors (65+) and children. All tickets are for general admission seating and are valid for all games on a single day. Two tickets would be required to attend at least one game on each day.
