CARSON, CALIFORNIA - (Wednesday, January 16, 2008) - The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling World Cup Classics today announced earlier start times for Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 19 for the qualifying races, due to more than double the number of 2007 participants.

Nearly 400 athletes from over 40 countries, including the United States, have confirmed their participation in the three-day event at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., Friday, Jan. 18-Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.

The start times on both the Friday and Saturday morning sessions have been scheduled earlier to the original ticketed time, and the start time for the finals session (Session 2) on Sunday will be delayed by 30 minutes. The new events schedule is as follows:

Friday, January 18
Session 1: 9:00 a.m.* - 4:50 p.m. (approx.)
Session 2: 7:00 p.m. - 10:25 p.m. (approx.)

Saturday, January 19
Session 1: Noon* - 4:25 p.m. (approx.)
Session 2: 7:00 p.m. - 10:25 p.m. (approx.)

Sunday, January 20
Session 1: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (approx.)
Session 2: 4:30 p.m.** - 7:25 p.m. (approx.)

World Cup races are amongst the most prestigious on the UCI calendar, providing riders and countries the opportunity to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in China. After stops in Sydney and Beijing, the Los Angeles event is the third of the four-race World Cup series in the 2007-08 season. Because there is no qualification system for the World Cup series, entries cannot be precisely foreseen. In a year where more than double the amount of athletes is competing as in previous years, the events schedule changed to accommodate the record number of participants.

Tickets are as low as $20.00, and all-session ticket packages (includes six sessions over three days) are available as low as $75.
