StubHub Center selected to host 3rd Annual Campeón de Campeones and SuperCopa with July 16th doubleheader

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Wednesday, April 19, 2017) - Liga MX, in conjunction with Univision Deportes, Soccer United Marketing and the LA Galaxy, announced today that Campeón de Campeones (Champion of Champions), the emblematic Mexican championship match between the winners of the two most recent Liga MX league tournaments, will return to Los Angeles in the third annual marquee event in the United States. SuperCopa, which will decide the ultimate Copa MX champion between the last two Mexican Cup winners, will also be played as part of the event.

For the second consecutive year, the doubleheader will be played at StubHub Center, home of Major League Soccer’s most successful club, LA Galaxy, in Carson, Calif., on Sunday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. PT.

Tickets for the Campeón de Campeones and SuperCopa doubleheader start at $47 and discounts are available for groups of 10 and more. Exclusive presale tickets for the event will be available beginning on Wednesday, April 19, at 10 a.m. PT while the general public will have access to tickets beginning Thursday, April 20, via www.axs.com and www.stubhubcenter.com

For the SuperCopa crown, the 2017 Copa MX Clausura Champion Chivas Guadalajara and in the 2017 Copa MX Clausura Final, will take on Queretaro, the 2016 Copa MX Apertura Champion.

As for Campeón de Campeones matchup, the storied Mexican championship that originated in 1942 and the third edition of the title match since 2006, 2016 Liga MX Apertura Champion Tigres UANL return for the second straight year to face the 2017 Liga MX Clausura winner, to be decided in May, to determine the absolute champions of Liga MX.

Both matches will be broadcast live on Univision, with the later match also appearing on Univision Deportes Network (UDN), the No. 1 Spanish-language sports network. The complete broadcast schedule on Univision networks will be announced at a later date.

Liga Bancomer MX and Univision Deportes have partnered with Soccer United Marketing (SUM) and the LA Galaxy for the management of the event. Additional details about the event, including media accreditation for the doubleheader, will be announced at a later date.
