Foundations to serve a warm Thanksgiving meal to local children and families

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, November 16, 2011) - The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation will join forces with Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation to serve a warm Thanksgiving meal to 250 local children and families. The ninth annual Foundations' Feast will be held in the American Express Stadium Club at The Home Depot Center on Monday, November 21, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Volunteers will be on-hand to serve dinner and lead arts and crafts activities.

WHO:
The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation and Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation will be hosting the event that will feature appearances by the 2011 Miss LA Galaxy - Lara, the 2011 Miss LA Galaxy Court - Chelsea, Monique and Katie and the Galaxy Street Team.

Families from the Compton Welfare Rights Organizations, Inc., Drew Child Development Center, Fred Jefferson Memorial Homes, Harbor Interfaith Services Organization, Koinonia Family Children's Shelter, Long Beach Rescue Mission, Los Angeles Child Services, New Image Homeless Shelter, Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center, St. Francis Medical Center, Testimonial Community Love Center in LA, Union Rescue Mission and the 1736 Family Crisis Center.

Staff volunteers from the Galaxy, The Home Depot Center, United States Soccer Federation (USSF), United States Tennis Association (USTA), Athletes' Performance, ESPN X Games and Macy's.

Foundations' Feast is assisted by sponsor donations, including Farmer John (hams), Levy Cares (side dishes), Bristol Farms (turkeys and bottled water), Two Chefs on a Roll (desserts), Marie Callender's (pies), Starbucks Carson (coffee) and gift cards from Ralph's (Carson and Gardena stores), Food 4 Less and Vons. For the children's gift bags, the Galaxy are donating various team items, ESPN X Games is contributing Disney DVDs, Macy's is giving note pads and McDonald's is providing coupons for free McFlurrys.
